Columbia University The Vagelos Effect
The Story
Columbia University’s Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons was looking to host a celebration honoring Dr. Roy and Diana Vagelos and their generous giving, which includes a $400 million gift donated in 2024, which was the largest single donation in the university’s history. We partnered with Columbia to executive produce The Vagelos Effect celebration at the historic United Palace in Washington Heights.
The evening began with a 95-guest VVIP reception in a private space and a VIP guest reception in the Grand Lobby featuring custom-packaged snacks and beverages. The stage event consisted of remarks by the university president, short film presentations, and a preview performance from the musical Buena Vista Social Club.
IDEKO was the full-service production partner for this event, overseeing the production from start to finish and managing all partners. We designed and produced all technical aspects of the event (cameras, sound, rigging, and stage management), delivered creative services (event development/ROS, graphic design, signage, and decor), and facilitated guest services (catering/menu recommendations, and event staffing).
