Epson “Swimming In Ink”
iDEKO Productions partnered with leading electronics company Epson, to host a grand, aquatic event, “Swimming In Ink,” in the heart of Times Square, starring Olympic competitors - the US National Synchronized Swim Team. This awe-inspiring activation served to promote the new line of Epson EcoTank(TM) printers, which are loaded and ready with up to two years of ink.
To best communicate Epson’s new product, iDEKO Productions created a 17,000-gallon swim tank, one of the largest ever constructed in Times Square, which featured cyan, magenta and yellow “ink”. iDEKO managed all aspects of the event including production, custom fabrication, venue scouting, security, staffing and onsite management.
The massive swim tank was truly a sight to see as passers-by stopped to watch the US National Synchronized Swim Team perform hourly, never–before–seen swim routines by famed choreographer Stephan Miermont. The show-stopping swim routines were livecast throughout the day on a large digital billboard, set above Times Square, for all to enjoy. Guests were also invited to engage with an interactive photo experience that featured the product and allowed participants to print their photo on a number of Epson EcoTank(TM) printers. Each of the captured images were projected on a giant LED billboard in Times Square in between live streaming of the swim routines. In conjunction with the event, Staples hosted “Print All You Want” days on Epson EcoTank(TM) printers in 16 stores across the New York Metropolitan Area. Overall the event was a tremendous success and Event Marketer awarded iDEKO the 2015 Experience Design Award for Best Outdoor Environment. iDEKO was honored to work with global partner Epson to truly create a momentous “splash” in the bustling streets of Midtown Manhattan.
