The Story
Madame Tussauds, partnering with VisitPortugal, tasked IDEKO to produce an epic unveiling of a Cristiano Ronaldo wax statue in the center of Times Square days before the 2022 World Cup. As one of the greatest footballers of all time, Ronaldo was honored as the first athlete to ever accomplish a “Times Square Takeover.”
The grand reveal featured a kabuki drop and pyrotechnics unveiling the statue of Ronaldo striking his iconic “Siuuu” celebration pose. We synced audio of Ronaldo giving a personal message to his cheering fans across multiple jumbotrons throughout six blocks of Times Square.
