UNICEF: Pandemic Classroom
Concept
IDEKO is proud to have supported UNICEF in the pre-production and activation of an art installation for their Pandemic Classroom initiative. In just two weeks, we brought this sadly empty classroom to life in the Rose Garden of the United Nations. Featuring 168 desks, 168 UNICEF backpacks, and a 24-foot custom-fabricated blackboard, this installation highlighted the fact that 168 million children globally have been out of school for an entire year during the pandemic. The classroom was captured by videographers and still photographers for use by UNICEF in an extremely successful social and traditional media push.
Our Role
Designed and fabricated the blackboard
Sourced the classroom desk/chair combination units
Provided and operated the scissor lift for the “hero” still photos and video capture moments units
Managed the on-site installation, set propping, and dismantle
