Red Bull - Niagara Falls Ice Climb
After the snowpocalypse of 2013, Red Bull approached iDEKO with the epic idea of a ‘Frozen Falls’ climb, featuring world-class ice climber Will Gadd. The climb would be unprecedented, and Gadd would be the first person to ever climb the frozen spray ice of Niagara Falls at Terrapin Point – a 147-foot vertical climb from the base of the falls.
The iDEKO team coordinated with NYS Parks, NYS Parks Police and a host of State and local officials, on logistics and safety to ensure the climb went off seamlessly. Will’s climb was a great opportunity to bring recognition to the beautiful NYS environs, scenic parks and historic lands, and shed light on the tremendous importance of not only preserving these areas, but using them for recreation, rejuvenation and inspiration as well.
In January 2015 Will Gadd became the first ever person to climb the frozen Niagara Falls. iDEKO produced the epic climb, and worked with local authorities and officials to secure the NYS permit needed to make it all a reality.
