As Support Services Manager, Heather adapts to a variety of roles to assist the team wherever possible, including backend reporting, billing, vendor coordination, account management, onsite production, business development, and marketing. Her efficiency and attention to detail have made her an asset in various projects, including Ivory Crush, Casa Clásico, Summer Streets, and Nike GO 5K. Before joining the iDEKO team, Heather has had experience in catering, social event planning, data management, and academic research.

What did you learn from your internship at iDEKO, and what made you want to stay full-time?
As an iDEKO intern, I was able to dive right into event production from day one. I quickly learned that teamwork and communication are vital in this industry. I joined full-time to continue to learn from this team’s breadth of expertise, while also getting hands-on experience with some of NYC’s biggest and most complex events.

What has been your favorite event that you have worked on?
I loved working on the World Pride Closing Ceremonies this year in Times Square. Though we worked long days (and nights!), it was such a rewarding experience to bring this historic and powerful event to life.

What advice do you have for people that are trying to break into the event industry?
The live events industry is fast-moving and ever-changing, so you need to be able to adapt, adjust, and solve challenges swiftly. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t know an answer right away, but also don’t expect it to come to you. Be resourceful, learn from those around you, and prepare for anything!

What's your favorite part about coming to work?
My coworkers! Event production is one of the most stressful professions, but our team always finds a way to have fun amongst the chaos.

If you could have any lunch spot right outside the office, what would it be?
Wendy’s!!!
